01 / Challenge

The delivery problem.

United States Department of Veterans Affairs stakeholders needed dependable claim submission, provider updates, progress tracking, and payment visibility across two frontends sharing a database.

Who needed it: United States Department of Veterans Affairs stakeholders and engineering teams supporting healthcare claims workflows.

02 / Approach

What I personally built.

  1. 01

Work directly with United States Department of Veterans Affairs stakeholders to clarify claims workflows, requirements, acceptance criteria, and operational constraints.

  2. 02

Contribute React, JavaScript, and TypeScript frontend features supporting claim submission, provider updates, and status visibility.

  3. 03

Use MySQL to investigate discrepancies between application behavior and stored data across frontend and backend workflows.

  4. 04

Develop reusable Playwright smoke and regression tests to validate claims workflows and investigate application failures.

  5. 05

Demonstrate changes, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and coordinate defect investigations with developers.

03 / Outcome

What changed.

Contributed application improvements and Playwright test automation, investigated workflow and data discrepancies, and demonstrated changes to stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder discovery and acceptance criteria
  • React application contributions
  • MySQL and cross-system investigations
  • Playwright smoke and regression testing
  • Demonstrations and feedback

04 / Systems & decisions

APIs, data, and infrastructure.

Two frontends support healthcare claims workflows against a shared database.

React, TypeScript, and JavaScript supply application features. MySQL investigations connect visible behavior to stored records.

Playwright provides reusable browser tests for smoke and regression validation of claims workflows.

Authentication and restricted environment access affect investigation and validation. Internal endpoints and environment details are not public.

Constraints and tradeoffs

  • Changes must account for shared data across two frontends; a visible UI issue can require investigation beyond the affected screen.
  • Stakeholder acceptance criteria guide implementation and validation within restricted environments.

05 / Evidence

What you can inspect.

Documented contributions

The career record documents frontend contributions, Playwright smoke and regression automation, stakeholder demonstrations, and MySQL investigations. Client source code, screenshots, and internal endpoints are not public.

How this supports my FDE direction

This work demonstrates customer discovery, application implementation, cross-system troubleshooting, and feedback-driven delivery.
